Chest-Supported Pad

INTRO

Rack-Mounted chest support pads are very hot right now. Sorinex (Bulldog Pad), Rogue (Pritchett Pad), Bells of Steel (Seal Row Pad), Revolt, and many others are offering their versions of this very simple device. If the price is out of reach for you, then perhaps that following hack will interest you.

IN FACT, my hack is BETTER than these commercially available options IN SOME WAYS. I say this because with my hack - you have more freedom of movement, and freedom of placement. With this hack - your face is not “pressed up” against your rack’s upright when executing many of the chest-supported exercises. Further, with my hack’s design you can attach it so that you can use it INSIDE your rack as opposed to just using it on the outside of your rack. This allows for you to execute exercises such as the T-Bar Row and the Seal row as demonstrated in the YouTube video.

The Hack

Simply attach your dip belt or your belt squat belt to your rack’s rear cross-member or front pullup bar with a Soft loop Tiedown Strap (which prevents scratching up your rack) via a length of chain and some carabiners. Then add a pad of your choice (a balance pad is a great option, but I prefer my AbMat - which is perfectly sized for this and provides great comfort). Then get in an EXERCISE!

There are way more exercises that can be accomplished with this hack than just T-Bar Rows and Seal Rows. ANY chest supported exercise can be executed. Further, you can flip over and lean backwards (with the pad across your back) to execute pressing movements (as seen in VOLUME 3 of my SOFT LOOP TIEDOWN STRAP HACKS Video (go to 5:58 to see the original incarnation of the hack).
